LOWER VOC'S
Alonzo meets California BAAQMD low VOC standards six months early!
In June 2009, Alonzo Printing met and exceeded the AQMD Low VOC standards for solvents and press washes. While these more stringent VOC requirements are not mandated until January 2010, Alonzo replaced traditional solvents and washes with Low VOC, <100 grams/liter, on both our open web and sheet fed presses. We are also finding that these new eco friendly substitutes have greatly reduced the volume of press wash and solvents needed to clean and maintain our presses.

Grays Harbor Paper is "Carbon Neutral. "Rather than run their boiler on natural gas or oil, Grays Harbor Paper (www.ghplp.com) converted to biomass (wood waste that otherwise would be slash-burned or taken to land fill). They bought two turbine generators to make their own electricity. They then added a third turbine to not only making their own energy but sell it too. When the state of Washington approached the company about making post-consumer recycled paper, Grays Harbor developed their flagship product, a 100% post-consumer paper, of the same quality as virgin paper, called Harbor 100.
